If you'd go further still with your history to the new modern stand of comics. About the decline of the cover gimmicks form to the fact that Marvel has declared Bankruptcy. From the fact that Onslaught (a sales gimmick to get back the Image creators to re
stablish the original Marvel heroes).

My only complaint with the page is that when you discuss the pulps you should have metnioned Doc Savage as well as The Shadow. Doc was damn near superhuman in both strength and intelligence, making him an ancestor of the superhero. Similalry, I must point
out that he had a strong influence on the Superman mythos. Both heroes are named "Clark," Doc is the "Man of Bronze" while Superman is the "Man of Steel," and Doc had a Fortress of Solitude before Action Comics #1. Besides The Shadow, Doc had the stronges
influence over comic books of any of the pulp heroes.

I thought the webpage was pretty well done. i've been doing a bit of research into the same thing as I am going to try and do my final year dissertation on the same subject, and found alot of the same things. Also one of my options is Animation & the Co
ic and it started out with the original stuff from the turn of the century.
This page was a condensed version of all the stuff I've found so it will come in pretty handy as a quick reference guide.

I am doing this for a TV series as that is my medium. A brief background is that as third generation in the entertainment industry, I felt that it was my duty to chronicle this wonderful and colorful history as one of it's founding families.
In the 70's and 80's my mother Alice Donenfeld was one of Marvel Comic's Vice Presidents. I have grown up knowing people like Stan Lee, Jim Shooter, Frank Frazetta, Jack Kirby, Bob Kane, and Kurt Swan to name a few.
I personally am the true cross-over comic!!!
I have been producing and distributing children's programming and documentaries for over 6 years now. My recent children's series "Bingo & Molly" currently airs on The Learning Channel m-f at I believe 9:30am Eastern. It's for 4-7 year olds so don't exp
ct another action/adventure!!!
However, I have been trying for years to assemble a really nice historical piece for TV. Now is the time and I think that the comic book industry at large needs a little boost!

There was once so much about comics that truly moved me. It was a medium of real Art, propelled by the creative impetus of real Artists like Kirby and Ditko and Romita(Sr.).
Unfortunately, I find myself a cynic now. I do not believe that any comic put out today will move me. Some still do (mainly independent titles), thankfully, but I remain perilously close to quitting forever as a collector of newly published comics.

Thankyou for creating such a great site! I appreciated your clean, easy to follow layout (I'm a graphic designer/illustrator), and the density of signal-to-noise, with graphics only intruding when necessary. Your research was immaculate, and I especially
iked your coverage of the Seduction of the Innocent trials.
But a question: why so little mention of the explosion of independant publishers in the 90's? Even before Image, there were a lot of independants, some of which were fairly popular. Why not mention them, and their eventual fate?
Other than that one nit-pick, everything way great. Congratulations, sir. You do the web a tremendous service.
