- The History of Comic Books

February 16th, 2001. Welcome to my new domain name. I've been a bad webmaster, not updating this page for 2 years. I have been working on the page, researching and writing a non-superhero history to be merged with the superhero stuff. I've found trying to tackle the whole history of comics in one shot was more than I can chew. So I'm taking it on, bit by bit.

The first bit is available now. Previously on my webpage I stated The Yellow Kid was the first American comic book, I along with the rest of the comic industry are now learning that this is false. More and more we are discovering comic books and great artists that did them from the 1800's and early 1900's. You can read about this in my new Platinum Age section. I'll be going through my history chronologically and adding and changing the sections to make this a more complete history of comic books. So next up is Golden Age, then Silver, etc.. This includes works from outside America, but that will be added once I'm satisfied with the American history. If you want to get an e-mail notifying you of further updates let me know .

Over the past 4 years I've discovered through e-mails that some people read this webpage and then want to get back into reading comics again. To help those people I am adding links to places where people can buy comics both online and in a physical store. Some comic pictures will have green borders around them, those are the ones you can click and buy from Something you have probably noticed by now is this site is no longer hosted by Geocities. has been everything I could have asked for. For those that like Guestbooks, I'll be adding one soon. I have also made slight changes to the look and improved the background html stuff to make the site run smoother.
